Insufficient labourers was the main cause for the delay in removing election banners and cutouts during the last few weeks, IG of Police, Mahinda Balasuriya said.

Addressing the media today he said that only two labourers are given to each police station and most Police stations are finding hard to get people to remove posters.

“Most of them are in fear of being assaulted by party supporters while removing banners and cut-outs. There were instances where graduate police officers had to climb trees and light posts to remove banners”, he said.
