The much awaited UNP reforms proposals was handed over to Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasingha by the UNP Reforms Committee today, Committee member John Amaratunga said.

The report was handed over to Wickramasingha in the parliamentary complex by the Commitee members.

It is learnt that the six member committee appointed to look into the re-organisation of the UNP, has stated in its report that an election would be held to elect office bearers of the party only if the suitable persons could not be appointed by consensus.

The report has stated that past precedents should not be changed at any rate.

The report is expected to be handed over to the UNP Working Committee by Wickramasingha and the Working Commitee after studying the report will present it at the UNP National Convention scheduled to be held next month.
